Earlier this year, we worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) to create its first digital health worker, Florence. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO recognized the growing need to educate people about how tobacco use was tied to increased chances of experiencing serious symptoms. Florence was built and designed to help coach anyone interested in tobacco cessation and to combat COVID-19 misinformation in hopes of saving lives.

We’re excited to share that Florence is able to help even more people thanks to learning five new languages: Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, and French. This is the first update to Florence, and focused on ensuring the democratization of information around the world. Thanks to NLP tools such as Google’s Dialogflow, we were able to “teach” Florence these new languages. Digital People can be programmed to speak up to 12 languages. Our Digital People, including Florence, are powered by our Human OS with Autonomous Animation, a proprietary technology that allows our Digital People to be fully autonomous and authentic in their responses. When you smile, they smile back.

Stay tuned for more updates from Florence. As a Digital Person, you can expect more updates from her as she uses AI to learn from previous interactions and obtains new information from resources trusted by WHO.
